University of Michigan Union spring wedding

It was so nice to hear from Anna and Chris who were married last year at the University of Michigan Union.  Chris asked for flowers reminiscent of Anna's bouquet for their first anniversary in May - what a guy!  And they sent me these gorgeous images from their wedding by Lennon Photo.  Thank you Anna and Chris, and congratulations on your first anniversary!

Spring waldenwoods wedding

One of my very first weddings this year - with beautiful images captured by Colleen Schmidt Photography. (and I nominate Colleen's preview for the best first dance images ever!) It was such a pleasure designing for Katie and Chad with this joyful spring color palate, so perfect on a beautiful day at Waldenwoods.

The bride and bridesmaids bouquets featured white peonies, pink romantic antike garden roses, yellow ranunculus, succulents, white matthiola, and peach juliet garden roses.

The groomsmen boutonnieres were simple, elegant succulents, while Chad's groom boutonniere also included white ranunculus bud accents.

It's so wonderful designing in early spring when so many flowers look their best!  These ranunculus and Juliet garden roses were spectacular!

Spring wedding at Cottonwood Barn

This set up at Cottonwood Barn was so gorgeous and so much fun!  Such a beautiful venue, and bride Christine had incredible vision adding gorgeous details everywhere.  Such a joy to be a part of it, and so looking forward to the pro photos by Lamarand Style Photography which will be so much better than my snaps here! The tables featured moss table runners for a natural touch, and several different centerpiece designs with a rustic and elegant mix of vases - mercury glass, whitewashed wood, and milk glass.  The flowers included rich green textures - succulents, queen anne's lace, tree ivy, umbrella fern, and ruscus foliages, as well as white and pale peach blooms - hydrangea, ranunculus, carnations, green trick dianthus, larkspur and peach juliet garden roses, as well as curly willow branches.

Orange and navy wedding

Love this image from the awesome Melanie Reyes - her work is so incredible, and she's a wonderful teacher, too!  I took a photography class from her and it was fun and so helpful, and now I enjoy practicing and improving my own photos of my work.  Of course, getting the pro images from her is still so much better ... I loved how these bouquets in bright orange, red and yellow turned out - a great pop of color with the navy blue bridesmaids dresses and accents.  The bouquets featured cherry brandy roses, orange lilies, orange freesia, mango calla lilies, and red tulips.

Sneak peak of blush and white wedding

Just a few quick photos of this weekend's highlights preparing for a beautiful blush pink and white wedding at the gorgeous Colony Club in Detroit... I found a new friend - the garden rose 'Kiera'!  Love this perfect pale blush pink color and ruffled edges!

And... we're back!

First wedding of 2014!  So excited for spring, so excited to be back in the studio creating wedding bouquets!  These pieces are for a beautiful spring wedding at Waldenwoods, which will be beautiful by the lake in the sun! I'm often asked what to do for mothers and grandmothers if you don't want a wrist corsage because it can get crushed, or you don't want to worry about a pin-on corsage leaving holes in delicate fabrics.  I love the idea of a petite nosegay for the mothers and grandmothers, like this one - a little something lovely for mom!

We're on Borrowed & Blue!

Red Poppy is so thrilled to be a wedding florist featured in the new Borrowed & Blue Directory for Ann Arbor together with some amazing local vendors!  Borrowed & Blue focusses on locally inspired weddings and provides a truly great list of vendors that focus on Ann Arbor.  I really appreciate that Borrowed & Blue has a dedicated Ann Arbor collection of vendors - I think sometimes it can be confusing when vendor listings include all of metro Detroit - this makes it much easier to see a great listing of folks who work frequently in the Ann Arbor area, so I'll certainly be recommending this resource to my brides!  Thank you, Borrowed & Blue!

Winter dahlia and succulent wedding

This was such a beautiful wedding, and one if my last of 2013!  The bride's bouquet had an elegant, seasonal, winter touch and beautiful textures featuring succulents, burgundy dahlias, and ivory roses. winter wedding bouquet of succulents and dahlias

The coordinating bridesmaids flowers featured silver brunia berries, burgundy carnations, lavender roses, and dusty miller foliage, finished with a burlap wrap.

Cottonwood Barn Styled Shoot

I am so, so excited to share this styled shoot at Cottonwood Barn this past autumn, with a vintage to vogue theme, reflecting Cottonwood's amazing renovation.  Cottonwood Barn is truly amazing and unique - it has the vintage feel of a loved and used barn, and its renovation is incredible.  The gorgeous chandelier in the main reception space is truly jaw-dropping (even for us wedding pros, we couldn't stop talking about it!), and everything has been finished beautifully and thoughtfully.   It's modern and practical in the right spaces (beautiful bride's suite with floor-length mirrors and adjacent to the modern ladies' room) and vintage and charming in the right ways, too (bar in a silo - how neat!).  I can't say enough about how impressed I was with Cottonwood! Melanie Reyes and Dayna Mae did such an AMAZING job capturing every thing, and it was a wonderful team of vendors lead by Luna Soiree, including a fabulous vintage ice cream truck by Hello Ice Cream!   Melanie captured all the highlights and vendors in a full blog here - I just wanted to post a few more of the flower photos here because there were so many I loved!  Thank you so much to everyone involved - so great to be a part of this!

What an incredible image!

There were a couple of different bouquets for this shoot, each featuring blush and peach tones with a few highlights of blue or purple and lush foliages and textures.  This bouquet featured  peach juliet garden roses, seeded eucalyptus, cafe au lait dahlias, lotus pods, blue viburnum berries, queen anne's lace and white avalanche roses.

Colorful autumn wedding at the Gandy Dancer

I am so grateful for these beautiful images from Heather Jowett - this was such a lovely wedding, wonderful families to work with, and it just makes me smile so much to post these images.  The ceremony was at beautiful St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and the reception at the lovely and historic Gandy Dancer in Ann Arbor.  Gorgeous hair and make-up by the talented ladies of Imagine Three.  It was a perfect autumn day for these two! Pure joy!  And I love these adorable handbags!
