Lemon yellow summer favorites

A bride just asked me about summer arrangements featuring lemon yellow and it made me think of these arrangements from last summer - some of my favorites! - and I realized in the business of summer wedding season, I never posted these, so, better late than never! I absolutely loved making these arrangements for a University of Michigan League Ballroom reception for a wonderful couple who love herbs and textures and we mixed in a rich color palate of lemon yellow, peach, and burgundy.  These arrangements featured real lemons (which turned out to be fun and unexpected, but also just plain beautiful!), mint, mint geranium, succulents, yellow garden roses, burgundy snapdragons, white phlox, all in a gold glass compote dish.  I hope you enjoy!

Special start to wedding season

It's been a special start to the wedding season this year for me.  I welcomed by first baby in February, and my heart has been full.  I was lucky enough to take most of February through April to be with her, and my spring and early summer brides were kind enough to  give me this space.  Many of them had booked with me in summer and autumn of 2014, and when I let them know that I was taking this time mostly away from work and email, I was a little nervous that they would be understandably concerned if I would be ready for the weddings and in tune to their needs as spring approached.  But instead, they all congratulated me, trusted me, and were so generous in giving me that time and space on maternity leave.  And when we did get back in touch this spring, they all asked about my little girl and truly shared in that joy with me.  And I was truly excited to see them on their wedding days.  They gave me a great gift of work/family balance, and I am so grateful for that.  Thank you.  It's a gift to work with such generous and thoughtful people!  And here's a few sneak peaks of some of the flowers from this spring and autumn:

Loved this bride's bouquet for a wedding at Misty Farm, with a mix of pink, peach, burgundy, ivory, orange and yellow - with a few succulents, too!

We were in a sea of beautiful white, ivory, and blush blooms at The Inn at St. Johns.  Gorgeous cake by Sweet Heather Anne, and so much fun to create a topper of garden roses and hydrangea for the finishing touch!

Spring has sprung!

Today this is my little bit of spring indoors at home - which is just perfect, because that's where I'm spending most of my time lately.  We welcomed our first little girl in February, and we are just completely smitten!  So thanks for your patience with me as I focus on this bundle of joy for a bit.  And enjoy this little splash of spring joy. Farm to table Misty Farm wedding

This couple brought so much character to their farm-to-table wedding!  Coming from New York City, this couple treated their guests to lots of local Michigan touches - like Zingerman's catering, and even Michigan wine, and the outdoor setting at Misty Farm was a lovely touch of the midwest at it's best!  Teamed up with some NYC glamour (love the individualized blush bridesmaids dresses!) and a gorgeous couple - what a memorable celebration, all captured beautifully by Amy Carroll Photography.

Cottonwood Barn Autumn wedding

It's so wonderful to receive these images from a gorgeous wedding at Cottonwood Barn in Dexter.  It was such a pleasure working with this bride and her vision for a lovely but not too traditional mix of autumnal colors and textures in her wedding flowers.  We used a mix of burgundy cymbidium orchids, orange pincushion protea, mango and plum calla lilies, yellow chrysanthemums, and a mix of textured foliages to create a seasonal look with texture and warmth.  Photo credit to Emily Alt, Watassa Wedding Photography for these lovely images! autumn wedding flowers at cottonwood barn, dexter ann arbor michigan

Autumn Misty Farm Wedding

Happy New Year! So looking forward to 2015, and also loving getting in gorgeous photos from 2014 weddings - it's a great way to start things off with beautiful flowers - or at least memories - while everything is covered in snow!

Loved working with this delightful couple and their gorgeous autumn wedding at Misty Farm!  For the bride's bouquet, we went with a mix of tones that for a seasonal look that was subtle - not such a traditional take on autumn, but still a classic garden-style design.  I'm so pleased with the result (and so pleased the bride loved it!), something sophisticated and stylish but also natural and relaxed.  The bouquet includes peachy-orange free spirit roses, pink fado roses, burgundy scabiosa, cream majolica spray roses, burgundy astrantia, and peach campanella roses together with a mix of textured foliage.  Thank you Kelly Braman for the beautiful image!  autumn wedding flowers at misty farm ann arbor
