Modern engagement shoot in lovely oranges and peaches

What a fun styled engagement shoot! Adorable couple, fun colors, sophisticated location, gorgeous images - lovely. I loved the orange and peach palate and made the flower arrangement here with a mix of lots of textures - orange ranunculus, peach roses and snapdragons, orange pincushion proteas, orange freesia and tulips and green berzilla berries.

Winter wedding photo shoot featured in Great Lakes Love

So excited that this lovely photo shoot at Zingermans Events on Fourth was featured in Great Lakes Love!  I was delighted to do the florals, featuring a bridal bouquet with purple and white clematis, pale pink french tulips, and burgundy snapdragons.

The tablescape featured a curved arrangement of textured foliages to take full advantage of the square table center, and the giant succulents added touch of whimsy.

Centerpiece at home

This was such a great Floral Design 101 class with Bloom Florist Collective!   I demonstrated using this footed compote dish, and each participant brought their own vase from home and we discussed different approaches to filling it.  View the rest of the class' beautiful creations here.  I loved this collection of protea, banksia, leucadendron, eryngium, tulips, and mimosa - I'm so glad I walked this centerpiece home in the snow that evening after class - I've been enjoying it on my dining table so much!  Come on spring!

Michigan Floral Association conference

I had a great time at the Michigan Floral Association conference at the Amway Grand  in Grand Rapids!  I got to assist Gerych's with their beautiful set up for the banquet - elegant yellow and black, and look at this neat acrylic table with an overhead piece filled with water and floating candles and dangling glass bubbles with yellow calla lilies and tulips!

Bright autumn bouquet for Michigan Union Wedding

I loved this bouquet for an autumn wedding at the University of Michigan Union.  The bride wanted flowers that looked autumnal but also more bright and colorful than the more traditional reds, oranges and golds of the season.  The end result featured orange and purple dahlias, blue anemone, scabiosa pods, red ranunculus, red zinnia, yellow scabiosa pods and geranium and bluplurum foliages.  I can't wait to get the pro images back on this one- so much color; it was a beautiful wedding!   Congratulations C &K!

Lovely summer blooms at Stonebridge Golf Club

Summer seems a long way away now!  These images make me so look forward to sunny days, green grass, and summer blooms!  I loved creating this combination of purples with soft peaches to add depth and texture to the arrangements.  It was a beautiful wedding on a beautiful day at Stonebridge Golf Club. wedding flowers in peach purple lavender

The bride's bouquet featured peach juliet garden roses, purple dendrobium orchids, purple coolwater roses, purple lisianthus and accents of seeded eucalyptus.

Winter wedding at Cobblestone Farm

This was one fun couple!  A wedding in December at Cobblestone Farm on the Mayan Apocalypse - and we put together bright, but still winter-seasonal flowers to add a pop of color.  These beautiful images were captured by Jana Benjamin.

Cobblestone Farm Wedding in soft blue, green and ivory

It was such a pleasure doing the flowers for this California couple's autumn wedding at Cobblestone Farm in Ann Arbor.  What a beautiful group!  The bride's bouquet featured soft white hydrangea and garden roses, light blue delphinium, dark blue eryngium, green hypericum berries and succulents.  For the bridesmaids, we added a little extra color with fuchsia snapdragons and purple veronica. This couple celebrated their ceremony in Grosse Pointe, had an amazing photo session in Downtown Detroit with Argyle Photography, and then the reception in Ann Arbor - it was a great way to get out and enjoy a gorgeous November day in southeast Michigan!

Sweetheart table flowers at The Henry Ford

This was a whirlwind floral design!  Bride R was not really a flower person, so she had had not been planning on any flowers for her sumptuous wedding and reception at the Henry Ford museum.  But at the last minute she changed her mind and came to me one week before her wedding in search of a luxurious, cascading floral design to highlight the front of the sweetheart table.  R wanted bold orange orchids (the groom's favorite color!), and we also chose peach garden roses and white hydrangea and orchids to soften the overall look.  How cool to have the reception under a vintage airplane - awesome!

Flower design contest

This was a first for me - I entered a floral design contest held by Mayesh - my main wholesale flower provider.  It's a little intimidating - designing for other florists - but also really neat to see how everyone takes the same box of flowers and does something very different with them!  This year's theme was 'everyday' floral design, so I wanted to use a container from around my house.  I grabbed the purple footed glass candy dish (from ikea) right off my dining table and - voila!  It was neat to use different materials than I usually choose - I really liked how the antique hydrangeas and the kale created a nice casual spin on the compote-style dish.  As I write this, you can view the winners from each Mayesh region and vote on the national winner here. red poppy floral design mayesh floral design contest entry
