Whitney & Jake: Autumn at Zingerman's Cornman Farm

There is so much to love about this sweet autumn wedding, and the first thing I can think of as I sit to write about it is how grateful I am to Whitney and Jake that I got to be a part of it.  I just genuinely enjoyed every part of talking with Whitney, planning the flowers, receiving their lovely stationery in the mail that Jake made himself, arriving at Zingerman's Cornman Farms in Dexter and seeing how much fun this wedding party was having getting ready.  It was all such a treat, and then after I saw a few teaser photos from First Comes Love Photo, featuring some adorable goats, I could not wait to see Alison's photos, and they are seriously amazing.  I am so, so grateful to her for sharing these, and so thrilled for Whitney and Jake to have such a lovely capture of their day.  For more of the details and story, visit First Comes Love Photo's blog - thank you, Alison!  Warmest congratulations and thanks to Whitney and Jake!

Whitney's bouquet was a bit natural, a bit romantic, a bit autumnal... lots of lovely textures and foliages and blooms in blush, raspberry, cranberry, and ivory.

Intimate Matthaei Botanical Garden Wedding

When I was emailing with Carrie about her bridal bouquet, I mentioned using seeded eucalyptus, and she said "That sounds great!  I work with eucalyptus trees!"  How neat is that?! Carrie was planning her winter Ann Arbor wedding from Australia, and I was so pleased to get to create this natural, textural bouquet for her.  And I was even more excited to receive these lovely photos from Nicole Haley Photography, who captured this lovely, intimate, joyful celebration so naturally.  Nicole captured such beautiful images at the wedding ceremony at Matthaei Botanical Garden, and I love the really lovely modern spots she found on the grounds there.  And I love that with an intimate group, they were able to have their reception seated at one long table at Aventura downtown - sounds like a fantastic evening out!

Carrie's bouquet featured lots of textured foliages - seeded eucalyptus and bay leaf as well as green mini cymbidium orchids, blush majolica spray roses, pink protea (from Australia!) and fern curls.  Congratulations!

Cozy Ann Arbor winter wedding

Nothing like a little (or a lot!) of spontaneous snow to make for a memorable celebration and some really gorgeous and fun wedding photos!  Alexa and Ryan were married in November, on that one day where it poured snow.  Rather surprising!  And they clearly had so much fun wading out into the snow for some amazing (and brave!) images with Melanie Reyes.   The reception at Zingerman's Events on Fourth looks like the perfect cozy spot to hunker down in the storm with your friends and family - what a lovely and memorable way to celebrate. Alexa's bouquet featured blush quicksand and ivory roses, white O'Hara garden roses, burgundy dahlias, dusty miller and silver dollar eucalyptus foliages, silver brunia berries and blue denatum berries.  The lush foliage garlands on the long rectangular tables at Zingerman's added just a splash of color - sophisticated, and a little something special!

Congratulations Alexa and Ryan and thank you Melanie for these beautiful images!

Elevated centerpiece

I was recently discussing elevated centerpieces with a couple and this one came to mind in thinking "Can you do fruit in elevated centerpieces?"  Yes!   We did lemons in this one at the Michigan League ballroom, and I loved how even when setting up people came up to ask "Are those lemons?"  Yep - love a little something unexpected!

Misty Farm Vendor Expo

Remember that really snowy Saturday just before Thanksgiving?  I was at the Misty Farm/The Valley vendor expo that day - and it was really pretty special watching the first snow of the season in such a beautiful setting.  It was so nice to meet couples looking forward to their weddings at Misty in 2016, thank you Misty Farm and The Valley - it was a lovely event!  I made this centerpiece with plenty of garden roses and unusual things (protea and meyer lemons!) to chat about :)

Soft summer mix

Before we're officially into winter, I wanted to share the little shot of a favorite bouquet from this summer.  This soft mix of lavender little silver roses, caramel antike garden roses, burgundy astrantia, seeded eucalyptus and queen anne's lace was such a sweet combination!  I love putting together a mix of colors that's a little unexpected but still soft and elegant!bridal bouquet by red poppy floral design ann arbor

Gorgeous celebration at Misty Farm

I just loved Amanda and Jonathan right off the bat when we first met.  Kind, young, fun, cool, confident, and stylish - I was so excited to be a part of their wedding and loved their ideas for interesting textures and a very romantic arch design for the ceremony.  And their wedding at Misty Farm was so beautiful and joyful!  These images from Heather Jowett just blew me away - I was so, so excited from the first sneak peek she posted on Facebook!   I can only imagine how hard it is for these two to pick their favorites - there are just so many  that make me think 'how awesome would it be to blow that up and frame it!' Thank you Amanda and Jonathan - it was really such fun to create these pieces and such an honor to be a part of your wedding!!

I was so honored that Jonathan left this review on Wedingwire:

"Tracy did all of the floral work for our wedding, and it was a great choice. She was one of those vendors who you sit down to meet with, and they somehow just read your mind. Seriously, my wife had a very particular type of imagery in mind, but doesn’t know a lot about flowers and was worried we wouldn’t be able to describe it well, but right away Tracy knew what she wanted and did an *excellent* job with it. She’s very upfront with her pricing, and can help come up with several different options to fit in your budget. Just stop reading these reviews and book her. You’ve got a lot of other things to figure out for your wedding, and flowers won’t be one of them if you call Tracy."

And how about Misty Farm moving the ceremony arch design to the reception?!  That's awesome!  It looks gorgeous, and it's really special for a venue to go that extra mile for their couples - awesome people at Misty Farm!

Autumn wedding at The Valley

When Kassia and I were discussing her bridal bouquet, we were deciding between a more simple, clean lines, rounded ivory bouquet, and something with a little more foliage and natural, flowing shape to it.  I know it would have been gorgeous either way, but I'm especially happy seeing these beautiful images from Nicole Haley Photography - I'm so glad she went for the more flowy option - I think it worked so well!  A bit fun and romantic, but not too over the top! We keep the materials simple so it wouldn't feel too busy - lovely foliages of seeded eucalyptus and silver dollar eucalyptus, white hydrangea, burgundy dahlia and white majolica scary roses.  Thank you Nicole for these beautiful images at The Valley - such a special spot to celebrate!

UMMA wedding

When Colleen and I first discussed her wedding flowers she said they were doing maize and blue, and wanted it to be a sophisticated and elegant version.  They perfectly combined an elegant, classic aesthetic at the University of Michigan Museum of Art with fun, spirited touches of Michigan and Ann Arbor.  And oh my goodness, that dress!! Thank you Colleen and Jeff for letting me be a part of your wedding day! Beautiful, joyful images by the very talented Heather Jowett - thank you, Heather for sharing these with me!!

Colleen's bouquet featured white peonies, garden roses, freesias, pale yellow parrot tulips, and white cymbidium orchids with very pale yellow throats.  Silver dollar eucalyptus and dusty miller added a splash of texture.  Oh, that dress!

Elegant Dearborn Inn Wedding

So excited to share these images of a very special September wedding at the gorgeous and elegant Dearborn Inn. It was truly a special wedding to be a part of - Megan is a friend I knew back when Red Poppy was just starting, and even after she moved away to Chicago she remembered me and I was honored she entrusted me with her wedding flowers!  It was truly wonderful working this family!

The flowers were timeless and elegant, classic features with a little twist of texture and foliage.  We used blush and ivory garden roses and accents of burgundy with ranunculus and astrantia.  Megan's bouquet included ivory and blush garden roses, white freesia, blushing bride protea.  I remember we discussed wanting the blush and burgundy tones to capture the summer to autumn transition and I just loved following that inspiration.
